Oak Lawn Ice Arena

people skating at ice arenaOak Lawn is a small village located in Cook County, Illinois about a 30-minute drive south of Chicago. The lush green village consists of more than 300 acres of parkland for the 56-thousand residents to enjoy and explore. One of the most popular places for a day of fun in Oak Lawn is the Oak Lawn Ice Arena, which is part of the Oak Lawn Park District. Located off of South Kenton Avenue, the ice arena offers year-round skating opportunities for those dedicated to figure skating and hockey, and for those looking for a cool way to have some fun.

Adjacent to the Oak Lawn Park District Administrative Center near 94th Street, the arena features an international-sized ice surface. There is an arena divider that creates two separate areas for those participating in competitive activities and those simply enjoying a skate around the rink. The arena is a very popular local favorite for birthday parties, family gatherings and business meetings. Sports events are also held here with a spacious viewing platform of the rink.

Located near the western borders of the village, it’s a fairly easy commute from no matter where you are in Oak Lawn. Whether you’re visiting Dr. Mike and his team at Inside the Smile for your regularly scheduled teeth cleaning or you’re in a world full of discovery at the Oak Lawn Children’s Museum, all it takes is just a few minutes’ drive to the local ice arena.

The Oak Lawn Ice Arena, along with the rest of the Oak Lawn Park District, brings the entire community of Oak Lawn and surrounding towns together. Leisure opportunities, recreational activities and the preservation of natural resources make the local parks a favorite place for residents and visitors alike. Parks are typically well-respected community stomping grounds, but Oak Lawn parks are more than just a park. The community proudly celebrates all that the parks provide to enhance the quality of life and wellness for everyone. One local resident boasts of her appreciation of the popular Oak Lawn Ice Arena.

“Hadn’t been there in years and was pleasantly surprised. Rink clean and bright, generous lobby, snack bar and machines, skate sharpening and rental. Lots of parking.” – Karen H.

The ice arena isn’t the only fun attraction offered by the Oak Lawn Park District. With its wide array of attractions and events, there is something fun for everyone. In addition to the ice arena, the park districts’ incredibly diverse recreational opportunities consist of: sports fields, playgrounds, a driving range, walking paths, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, facilities for multi-recreational purposes, two swimming pools, two fitness centers, a community theater, a skate park and an 18-hole golf course! There are also dog parks for dog-lovers to enjoy with their furry friends.

Although all of these local attractions are quite popular, the ice arena is one of the park district’s most frequented locations. Due to its year-round schedule, the opportunity for cool and casual fun is always a great idea for quality time with family and friends.
